A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL ARROWS SOCCER TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1996-1997 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THEIR FOURTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Clinton High School Arrows Soccer Team finished the 1996-1997 season with an outstanding record of 21 wins and 1 loss; and
WHEREAS, the Arrows did very well in tournament play this year, winning the Northwest Rankin Tournament and Pearl Tournament and defeating Brandon 1-0 in overtime for the Class I State Championship, the team's fourth state title claimed in the past five years; and
WHEREAS, the Clinton Arrows have been superbly coached and inspired by Hugh Christian, who has broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, Coach Christian has brought additional honor to himself and to the school by being selected the Coach of the Week; and
WHEREAS, the Clinton Arrows, ranked No. 1 in The Clarion-Ledger poll, have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect a great credit upon the individual players and Coach Christian and bring honor to their school; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Clinton High School Arrows Soccer Team are Stan Black, Kyle Bryant, Josh Christian, Taylor Dearman, Clint Farrar, Patrick Ferriss, Todd Fyke, Ken Hayman, Brett Hazelwood, Maigari Jinkiri, Josh Johnson, Johnnie Jones, Kian Khanifar, Brad Love, Austin Malone, Lane Malone, Collin Mascagni, Mason Montgomery, Michael Murphy, Marc Peacock, Clint Pemberton, Jeff Pitts, Scott Raybon, Will Schoggen, Jeff Smith, Jay Stewart, Neal Thomas, Matthew Walker, Jacob Webb and Wade Zimmerman, and the team managers are Lex Clark, Matthew Foster and Benny Nash; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Clinton High School Arrows Soccer Team and their coach, Hugh Christian, for their outstanding 1996-1997 season, for winning the state championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Clinton High School, Coach Hugh Christian and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
