A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KEN LINDSAY ON BEING NAMED PRESIDENT OF THE PROFESSIONAL GOLFERS' ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA. 

WHEREAS, Ken Lindsay, Director of Golf and General Manager of the Colonial Country Club in Jackson, Mississippi, has been elected to the prestigious post of President of the Professional Golfers' Association of America; and

WHEREAS, born July 3, 1943, in Gadsden, Alabama, he cultivated his love of golf while working at the Gulf Steel Country Club under the guidance of an old Scottish professional, Mr. George Black, who inspired Ken to develop his skills as a golfer; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from the University of Memphis where he played golf and won 40 of 44 singles matches, an accomplishment that has earned him a spot in the school's Athletic Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, after serving as an officer in the Air Force and winning the 1968 All-Air Force Golf Championship, Ken became an assistant professional and later the head professional at the Colonial Country Club; and

WHEREAS, on his way to the presidency, he served two-year stints as the association's vice president and secretary and a three-year term on the National PGA Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Ken, who in 1983 was selected the PGA Golf Professional of the Year and PGA Master Professional,

received the Horton Smith Trophy in 1987 and was named to the Gadsden, Alabama, Hall of Fame in 1991; and

WHEREAS, he has served as secretary-treasurer and president of the Mississippi Chapter and as president, treasurer and secretary of the Gulf States PGA Section; and

WHEREAS, a talented trainer of many Rules officials for professional golf tours, Ken claims that his prize student is his wife, Janet Lindsay, an LPGA Rules official; and

WHEREAS, Ken Lindsay, who has established himself as one of America's top club professionals and one of golf's top Rules officials, is admired and appreciated by all who have known him:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ken Lindsay upon his election as President of the Professional Golfers' Association of America and offer our best wishes for his continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be furnished to Ken Lindsay.
