House Concurrent Resolution 71
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MISSISSIPPI BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER ON PROVIDING THE ELEVENTH ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE HEALTH SCREENING TO THE MISSISSIPPI STATE LEGISLATURE.
WHEREAS, on January 14 and 15, 1996, the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center conducted its eleventh annual Legislative Health Screening; and
WHEREAS, the health screening offered to legislators and legislative staff blood pressure assessment, cardiovascular risk assessment, laboratory analysis of lipid profile which included cholesterol and glucose levels and a complete blood count, and a prostate cancer screening; and
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center employees were instrumental in carrying out the screening program, including
Ginger Cocke, Sandra Holman, Shane Moore, Sandy Lewis, Carolyn Campbell, Becky Sullivan, Henry Wilson, Kim Felder, Tim Henry, David Carpenter, Kim Neely, Wayne Carter, Mark McCormick, Cathy Horne, Stephania Jackson, Kim Daniels, Brennett Lylles, Mattic Baggett, Christie Odom, Kathy Woodard, Rose Franklin, Jessylen Jackson, Scott Wilkinson, Carla Moss, Connie Thompson, Theresa Issa, Jennifer Beek, Carlos Perez, C.J. Quincy and Twanda Armstrong; and
WHEREAS, many of the participants in the Legislative Health Screening have indicated that upon receiving the results of the tests, they learned how to adjust their diets and life-styles for the benefit of their good health; and
WHEREAS, the health screening program educated a large majority of our state legislators and legislative employees, which demonstrates the necessity for all Mississippians to have similar tests made; and
WHEREAS, those who participated in the Legislative Health Screening appreciate very much the fine efforts of the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in providing this beneficial service; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by a worthwhile service to our state government:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center on providing the eleventh annual Legislative Health Screening to the members and staff of the Mississippi State Legislature.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
