House Concurrent Resolution 32
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MILLICENT MAYO ON BEING NAMED MISSISSIPPI'S ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, Millicent Mayo, who earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, as the principal of Central Alternative School has been named Mississippi's Administrator of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mayo received a certificate for the honor at a meeting of the Mississippi Board of Education in Jackson, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mayo, who helped establish the alternative school on Lynda Lee Drive four years ago; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mayo was one of five finalists and the only alternative school principal named for the prestigious recognition; and
WHEREAS, besides a certificate, Mrs. Mayo will receive a $5000.00 supplement to her pay next year; and
WHEREAS, in being named Mississippi's Administrator of the Year, Mrs. Mayo exhibited a superior ability to inspire instructors, possessed exemplary leadership capabilities and was an active member of the local community; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mayo has been a tremendous asset to the school district, particularly when it relates to the alternative school and its setting, she is truly deserving of the honor of Mississippi's Administrator of the Year; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially in the field of education:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Millicent Mayo on being named Mississippi's Administrator of the Year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Mayo and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
