AN ACT TO CREATE THE OFFENSE OF VEHICULAR ASSAULT; TO PROVIDE FOR FINES AND PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any person who drives any vehicle in such a manner as to indicate a wilful, unlawful and intentional or wanton disregard for the safety of persons and while driving such vehicle injures or renders disabled any person is guilty of vehicular assault.
Except as otherwise provided by Section 63-11-30(4), every person convicted of vehicular assault shall be punished by a fine of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or imprisonment for not more than twenty (20) years, or both.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
