Title: AN ACT TO REQUIRE PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO PERMIT THE TEMPORARY ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL OF A STUDENT WHO HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH DYSLEXIA FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING PROFESSIONAL REMEDIATION SERVICES RELATING TO THE STUDENT'S DYSLEXIA, TO REQUIRE SUCH STUDENTS TO PROVIDE ADVANCE NOTICE AND WRITTEN EVIDENCE OF SUCH REMEDIATION SESSIONS, TO REQUIRE STUDENTS TO MAKE UP ANY SCHOOL WORK AND TESTS MISSED DUE TO THE STUDENT'S ABSENCE, AND TO REQUIRE TEACHERS TO COOPERATE WITH STUDENTS IN SCHEDULING MISSED SCHOOL WORK AND TESTS; TO AMEND SECTION 37-13-91, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT THE ABSENCE OF A DYSLEXIC STUDENT FROM SCHOOL DUE TO THE STUDENT'S PARTICIPATION IN A SCHEDULED SESSION FOR PROFESSIONAL REMEDIATION SERVICES RELATING TO THE STUDENT'S DYSLEXIA IS EXCUSED UNDER THE MISSISSIPPI COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE LAW; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
