Title: AN ACT TO CREATE A STATE LOTTERY; TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE LOTTERY SHALL BE ADMINISTERED BY THE MISSISSIPPI GAMING COMMISSION; TO PROVIDE THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE MISSISSIPPI GAMING COMMISSION REGARDING THE STATE LOTTERY; TO PROVIDE FOR THE DISPOSITION OF PROCEEDS RECEIVED FROM THE SALE OF LOTTERY TICKETS; TO PROVIDE THAT THE LOTTERY MAY BE CONDUCTED IN ANY COUNTY OF THE STATE THAT ELECTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LOTTERY; TO PROVIDE THE PROCEDURE FOR AN ELECTION TO BE CONDUCTED IN A COUNTY TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE COUNTY WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE LOTTERY; TO CREATE THE TRUST FUND INTO WHICH A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS COLLECTED FROM THE SALE OF LOTTERY TICKETS SHALL BE DEPOSITED; TO PROVIDE THAT THE INVESTMENT EARNINGS FROM THE TRUST FUND MAY BE APPROPRIATED BY THE LEGISLATURE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS; TO AMEND SECTIONS 37-106-5, 67-1-71, 75-76-3, 75-76-5, 97-33-9, 97-33-11, 97-33-13, 97-33-21, 97-33-23, 97-33-31, 97-33-33, 97-33-35, 97-33-37, 97-33-39, 97-33-41, 97-33-43, 97-33-45, 97-33-47 AND 97-33-49, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, IN CONFORMITY TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT; TO AMEND SECTION 27-65-111, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO EXEMPT FROM SALES TAXATION THE SALE OF LOTTERY TICKETS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
