Title: AN ACT TO CREATE NEW SECTION 25-11-126, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN PERSONS RECEIVING A RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE FROM THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM WHO ARE SERVING AS SHERIFFS AFTER THEIR RETIREMENT, AND CERTAIN PERSONS SERVING AS SHERIFFS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE FROM THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM, MAY RECEIVE A RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE DURING THEIR SERVICE AS SHERIFFS IN ADDITION TO RECEIVING A SHERIFF'S SALARY; TO PROVIDE THAT THOSE PERSONS SHALL NOT BE CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM NOR RECEIVE ANY CREDITABLE SERVICE FOR THE PERIOD DURING WHICH THEY RECEIVE A RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE DURING THEIR SERVICE AS SHERIFFS; TO AMEND SECTIONS 25-11-103, 25-11-105 AND 25-11-127, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, IN CONFORMITY WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
