Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 71-5-11, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REVISE THE DEFINITION OF "EMPLOYING UNIT" UNDER THE MISSISSIPPI EMPLOYMENT SECURITY LAW TO INCLUDE CERTAIN INDIAN TRIBES; TO AMEND SECTION 71-5-357, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO EXTEND THE DATE BY WHICH PAYMENTS REQUIRED OF CERTAIN NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS SHALL BE PAID TO THE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION FUND; TO CREATE NEW CODE SECTION 71-5-387, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN INDIAN TRIBES SHALL BE CONSIDERED EMPLOYERS AND SHALL PAY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION FUND IN THE SAME MANNER AS ALL OTHER EMPLOYERS UNLESS THE TRIBES ELECT TO MAKE PAYMENTS IN LIEU OF CONTRIBUTIONS; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR FAILURE OF THE TRIBE TO MAKE THE REQUIRED PAYMENTS OR CONTRIBUTIONS WITHIN THE PRESCRIBED TIME FRAME; TO AMEND SECTION 71-5-501, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REMOVE THE TWENTY-FOUR MONTH WAITING PERIOD BEFORE UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS SHALL BECOME PAYABLE FROM THE FUND; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
