AN ACT TO CREATE SECTION 3-3-79, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DESIGNATE AN OFFICIAL STATE TARTAN FOR THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. 3-3-79. (1) There shall be an official state tartan for the state of Mississippi. A tartan is a plaid textile design consisting of stripes of varying width and color, producing a repeating pattern.
(2) The pattern for the state tartan shall be defined by the repeating half-sett of six (6) white, one (1) light green, one (1) yellow, one (1) light green, one (1) yellow, twenty (20) green, twenty (20) black, eight (8) red, twenty (20) green, twenty (20) black, four (4) blue, forty (40) green and ten (10) black.
(3) The colors of the tartan shall be:
(a) White (w) represented by Pantone 375c, with the hexadecimal equivalent #ffffff;
(b) Light green (LG) represented by Pantone 375c, with the hexadecimal equivalent #98d02;
(c) Yellow (Y) represented by Pantone 14-0755 TPG, with the hexadecimal equivalent #dbbd20;
(d) Green (G) represented by Pantone 3435 C, with the hexadecimal equivalent #004f41;
(e) Black (K) represented by Pantone Process Black C/K, with hexadecimal equivalent #000000;
(f) Red (R) represented by Pantone 485c, with the hexadecimal equivalent of #e00202; and
(g) Blue (B) represented by Pantone 294c, with the hexadecimal equivalent #1d4682.
(4) This tartan shall be known as the Mississippi Tartan, and may be used freely by any and all organizations, societies and individuals affiliated with the state of Mississippi.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2026.
