House Resolution 7

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE NEW ALBANY HIGH SCHOOL BOYS GOLF TEAM AND HEAD COACH SHANE SANDERSON UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 4A 2025 STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the hardworking and dedicated student golfers on the New Albany High School Boys Golf Team are now reigning state champions since winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 4A 2025 State Golf Championship; and

WHEREAS, the team led with a 12-10 Tournament Play, which converted to 83-21, and with 11 qualifying teams, they fought to edge out over Corinth with two strokes, Poplarville with three strokes and Amory with six strokes; and

WHEREAS, impressive and hardworking seniors, Nick Little and Hunter Henson were standouts with Nick Little ending as the overall Silver Medalist with 77, 74 and senior Hunter Henson ending as the overall Bronze Medalist with 72,80; and

WHEREAS, this talented and cohesive team consists of: Hunter Henson, Nick Little, Cole Dean, Landon Evans, Aden Owen and Max Bullock, and although Hunter and Nick are graduating seniors, most of the team will remain intact; and

WHEREAS, the Tigers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Shane Sanderson who has broadened the players' knowledge of the game of golf and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the New Albany Bulldogs Golf Team has developed a winning cooperative spirit with a high degree of sportsmanship, and their positive and determined attitudes reflect great credit upon their coach, the players and their parents which also creates immense honor and pride to New Albany High School; and

WHEREAS, it is most appropriate to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, in particular, the Bulldog golf team, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the New Albany High School Boys Golf Team and their amazing Coach Shane Sanderson for their extraordinary season and upon winning the MHSAA Class 4A 2025 State Golf Championship.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Shane Sanderson and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
