House Concurrent Resolution 19

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE WARREN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL VIKINGS FOOTBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE 2025 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Warren Central High School Vikings Football Team, representing Warren Central High School of Vicksburg, Mississippi, achieved extraordinary success during the 2025 season by capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A State Football Championship; and

WHEREAS, on December 5, 2025, the Warren Central Vikings delivered a commanding performance at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville to defeat the Hattiesburg High School Tigers by a final score of 56–34 to secure the Class 6A title; and

WHEREAS, the Vikings overcame a halftime tie and unleashed a dominant second-half performance to outscore the opposition and claim their first state championship in 31 years, marking the program's third overall MHSAA Class 6A state football title, having previously secured championships in 1988 and 1994; and

WHEREAS, the Vikings demonstrated exceptional athletic excellence, amassing nearly 500 total yards of offense, including a powerful rushing attack and explosive plays through the air, showcasing the depth, skill and teamwork of the student-athletes throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Josh Morgan, whose strategic vision and commitment to character development guided the team throughout the season, the players exhibited resilience, discipline and unity in pursuit of excellence; and

WHEREAS, the championship season also sparked widespread community celebration, with the Vikings honored with the key to the city in recognition of their historic achievement and exemplary representation of Warren Central High School and the Vicksburg community; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding achievements by student-athletes who bring honor to their schools, their communities and the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the Warren Central High School Vikings Football Team for their outstanding 2025 season and their well-deserved MHSAA Class 6A State Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Warren Central High School Head Coach Josh Morgan, the superintendent of the Vicksburg-Warren School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
