A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING CATERPILLAR INC., AND ITS MISSISSIPPI AFFILIATE IN CORINTH, MISSISSIPPI, ON THE OCCASION OF THE COMPANY'S 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF INNOVATION AND INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP.
WHEREAS, Caterpillar Inc., in Corinth, Mississippi, is celebrating the company's Centennial Anniversary with its employees, founders and communities; and
WHEREAS, on January 9, 2025, Caterpillar, Inc., marked its 100th anniversary with celebrations throughout the U.S. that commemorate a monumental moment in the company's history. The iconic manufacturing company officially turns 100 on April 15, marking a century of customer-centric innovation and industry-leading transformation; and
WHEREAS, the Holt Manufacturing Company and the C.L. Best Tractor Co. merged to form what was then known as the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1925. From the company's first track-type tractor designed to pull combine harvesters in Northern California to autonomous construction and mining equipment and engines that power the world today, Caterpillar products and services have helped its customers complete infrastructure projects that have shaped the modern world; and
WHEREAS, Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Jim Umpleby stated "Our success over the last 100 years is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees, the continued trust of our customers and the support of our dealers and business partners. I am proud to lead such a strong team, and I'm confident Caterpillar will continue to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world over the next 100 years"; and
WHEREAS, celebrations took place at the Caterpillar, Inc., affiliate in Corinth, Mississippi. At the company's global headquarters in Irving, Texas, the families of company founders C.L. Best and Benjamin Holt will gather with company leaders and employees to celebrate the first 100 years of innovation as Caterpillar begins its journey into the next century; and
WHEREAS, on January 9, 2025, the Centennial World Tour embarked on its journey to visit Caterpillar facilities around the world and provide an interactive and immersive experience for employees and visitors. The company is also commemorating the milestone with limited-edition "Centennial Grey" painted machines available for purchase in 2025; and
WHEREAS, with 2023 sales and revenues of 67.1 billion dollars, Caterpillar Inc., is the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. For nearly 100 years, it has been helping customers build a better, more sustainable world and are committed and contributing to a reduced-carbon future. Its our innovative products and services, backed by its global dealer network, provide exceptional value that helps customers succeed. Caterpillar does business on every continent, principally operating through three primary segments: Construction Industries, Resource Industries and Energy and Transportation, and providing financing and related services through its Financial Products segment; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we focus the nation's attention on the Mississippi affiliates of Caterpillar Inc., to encourage colleagues, families and local communities to learn more about the benefits of Mississippi manufactured products:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Caterpillar Inc., and its Mississippi affiliate in Corinth, Mississippi, on the occasion of the company's 100th Anniversary Celebration of innovation and industry leadership.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Caterpillar Inc., in Corinth, Mississippi, and other Mississippi affiliates and to the Mississippi Manufacturers Association for appropriate distribution and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
