AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF CORONAVIRUS STATE FISCAL RECOVERY FUNDS TO HINDS COUNTY TO DEFRAY EXPENSES FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE FACILITY'S WATER SYSTEM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Capital Expense Fund not otherwise appropriated, to Hinds County for the purpose of defraying the costs associated with the improvement of the Hinds County criminal justice facility’s water system for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026..................................

................................................ $ 7,074,214.00.

SECTION 2. It is the intent of the Legislature that Hinds County be made whole as if the county had received its ARPA funds for the purpose described in Section 1 of this act.

SECTION 3. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State Treasury not otherwise appropriated upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2025.
