A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL LADY RAIDERS VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH COURTNEY SCHIMELPFENING FOR WINNING THE 2024 MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS (MAIS) DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Lamar High School Lady Raiders Volleyball Team has once again demonstrated its dominance on the court by securing its third consecutive Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Division II State Championship, solidifying its legacy as a powerhouse in Mississippi high school volleyball; and

     WHEREAS, in the championship match, held on Monday, October 21, 2024, the Lady Raiders faced off against Pillow Academy and delivered a commanding performance, sweeping their opponent in three decisive sets with scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-14, showcasing their skill, teamwork and determination; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Raiders exhibited exceptional play, maintaining consistency throughout the match and recording 11 service aces, extending their streak of serving at least 11 aces to four consecutive games, further emphasizing their offensive prowess and strategic excellence; and

     WHEREAS, under the guidance and leadership of Head Coach Courtney Schimelpfening and Assistant Coach Alex Schimelpfening, the Lady Raiders have cultivated a culture of excellence that demands the very best from each athlete, both on and off the court, a commitment that has led them to three consecutive state titles; and

     WHEREAS, the 2024 Championship Team, comprised of Sellers Breaux, Addison McKee, Emma Hale, Ella Temple, Reagan Barefield, Saydee Oltremari, Rylee Schimelpfening, Caroline Fruge, Vallie Purvis, Anna Grace Terry and Libby Tulip, exemplified resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the season, finishing with an impressive 21-9 record and securing their sixth consecutive home victory in the process; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Raiders' remarkable achievement not only brings pride to Lamar High School but also serves as an inspiration to student-athletes across the state, demonstrating the rewards of hard work, dedication, and perseverance; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor outstanding achievements of student-athletes who bring great pride to their schools, communities and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Lamar High School Lady Raiders Volleyball Team and Head Coach Courtney Schimelpfening for winning the 2024 MAIS Division II State Championship and extend best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and supporters for continued success in all their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Courtney Schimelpfening, the Lamar School administration and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
