House Concurrent Resolution 52

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE CHEER TEAM FOR WINNING BACK-TO-BACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE OPEN ALL-GIRL TRADITIONAL DIVISION AND SECURING A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE OPEN CO-ED GAME DAY DIVISION AT THE UCA NATIONALS IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA.

WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer Team, under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Brandon Casey and Assistant Coach Rainy Bordelon, has achieved remarkable success by winning back-to-back national championships in the Open All-Girl Traditional division and securing a national championship in the Open Co-Ed Game Day division at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Nationals in Orlando, Florida; and

WHEREAS, the team's exceptional performance at the 2025 UCA Nationals saw them claim the gold medal in the Open All-Girl Traditional division with a final score of 82.9, finishing ahead of their competitors and demonstrating their skill, dedication and perseverance; and

WHEREAS, in the Open Co-Ed Game Day division, the Northwest cheer squad achieved a stellar victory, earning a raw and event score of 94.8333, finishing ahead of top competitors; and

WHEREAS, the hard work, dedication and teamwork displayed by the Northwest cheer team members exemplify the highest standards of collegiate athletics, bringing pride and recognition to Northwest Mississippi Community College and the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the team's success is a testament to the commitment and support of their coaches, families, friends and the entire Northwest Ranger community, whose encouragement and belief in the team's abilities have been invaluable; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence in collegiate athletics, especially when demonstrated by student-athletes who bring distinction and honor to their institutions and our state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer Team for winning back-to-back National Championships in the Open All-Girl Traditional Division and securing a National Championship in the Open Co-Ed Game Day Division at the UCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida, and extend best wishes for their continued success in all future competitions.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Brandon Casey, Northwest Mississippi Community College President Dr. Michael Heindl, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
