House Concurrent Resolution 47

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PURVIS HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Purvis High School Volleyball Team has brought honor and pride to Lamar County and the entire State of Mississippi by capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 4A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, in just its sixth season, the Purvis Volleyball Team has demonstrated a meteoric rise in excellence, building upon past successes that saw them claim district championships, South State titles, and a state runner-up finish before achieving their ultimate goal of winning the 2024 MHSAA Class 4A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, finishing the season with an outstanding 32-9 overall record and an undefeated 8-0 district record, the team showcased their unwavering dedication, resilience, and competitive spirit throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, the Purvis High School Volleyball Team's success is attributed to the remarkable commitment and hard work of its talented student-athletes, including: Saylor Fletcher, Hattie Tynes, Dylan Carroll, Allee Williamson, Aubrey Easley, Brooxie Shephard, Carleigh Dickerson, Ellie Saffle, Harper Tynes, Olivia Yarbrough, Trinity Turnage, Zoey Robinson, Brailyn Coggins, Loran Smith, Presley Long, Abi Cook, Jocelyn Cooper, Anna Claire Hannaford, Emma Chance and Maddy Easley; and

WHEREAS, the team's remarkable journey to the state title was made possible through the tireless dedication of its outstanding coaching staff, including Head Coach Kaitlyn Aycock and Assistant Coaches Timber Bond and Mandy Cobia, whose leadership and commitment have been instrumental in the team's success; and

WHEREAS, the team will surely cherish the unforgettable memories made throughout this championship season and carry the valuable lessons of hard work, perseverance, and teamwork with them throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by the Purvis High School Volleyball Team, whose accomplishments have brought honor to their school, community, and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Purvis High School Volleyball Team for winning the MHSAA Class 4A State Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Kaitlyn Aycock, the administration of Purvis High School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
