COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

Senate Bill No. 2634

     Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

SECTION 1.  (1)  The segment of Mississippi Highway 145/U.S. Highway 45 located in Lee County, Mississippi, extending for a distance of approximately one (1) mile in the easterly direction from Shannon Avenue to North Collins in the Town of Shannon, Lee County, Mississippi, is designated and shall be known as the "Johnny R. Patterson Memorial Highway."

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section.

SECTION 2.  (1)  The segment of Mississippi Highway 446 located in Bolivar County, Mississippi, extending for a distance of approximately one (1) mile in the easterly direction from its point of intersection with Shaw-Skene Road to its point of intersection with Gilbert Road, is designated and shall be known as the "H.M. "Mack" Grimmett Memorial Highway."

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.

     Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

     AN ACT TO DESIGNATE A SEGMENT OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 145/U.S. HIGHWAY 45 LOCATED IN THE TOWN OF SHANNON, LEE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE "JOHNNY R. PATTERSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; TO DESIGNATE A SEGMENT OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 446 LOCATED IN BOLIVAR COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE "H.M. "MACK" GRIMMETT MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
