House Amendments to Senate Bill No. 3228
TO THE SECRETARY OF THE SENATE:
THIS IS TO INFORM YOU THAT THE HOUSE HAS ADOPTED THE AMENDMENTS SET OUT BELOW:
AMENDMENT NO. 1
Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Kenneth Edward Barnes of Walthall County, Mississippi, who, upon representation, was disqualified as an elector in 1977, in Walthall County for conviction of the crime of grand larceny, for which he was sentenced to serve a term of years within the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and was subsequently released and discharged.
The Legislature is informed that since his release from incarceration he has conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO KENNETH EDWARD BARNES OF WALTHALL COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.
