TO THE SECRETARY OF THE SENATE:

THIS IS TO INFORM YOU THAT THE HOUSE HAS ADOPTED THE AMENDMENTS SET OUT BELOW:

AMENDMENT NO. 1

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

SECTION 1. (1) The segment of U.S. Highway 278 (Noah Curtis Street) located in Shannon, Lee County, Mississippi, extending for a distance of approximately one (1) mile in the westerly direction from the eastern entrance of Shannon Primary School to a point immediately west of the on-ramp interchange with U.S. Highway 45, is designated and shall be known as the "Johnny R. Patterson Memorial Highway."

(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section.

SECTION 2. (1) The segment of Mississippi Highway 446 located in Bolivar County, Mississippi, extending for a distance of approximately one (1) mile in the easterly direction from its point of intersection with Shaw-Skene Road to its point of intersection with Gilbert Road, is designated and shall be known as the "H.M. "Mack" Grimmett Memorial Highway."

(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section.

SECTION 3. (1) The segment of Mississippi Highway 28 located in Soso, Jones County, Mississippi, extending for a distance of approximately one (1) mile in the northwesterly direction beginning at its intersection with Margay Road to a point of termination at its intersection with Mississippi Highway 29, is designated and shall be known as the "Paul Holifield Memorial Highway."

(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.

AN ACT TO DESIGNATE A SEGMENT OF U.S. HIGHWAY 278 (NOAH CURTIS STREET) LOCATED IN THE TOWN OF SHANNON, LEE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE "JOHNNY R. PATTERSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; TO DESIGNATE A SEGMENT OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 446 LOCATED IN BOLIVAR COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE "H.M. "MACK" GRIMMETT MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; TO DESIGNATE A SEGMENT OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 28 LOCATED IN THE SOSO, JONES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE "PAUL HOLIFIELD MEMORIAL HIGHWAY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
