A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE RECOGNITION OF THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE TO MR. WILTON NEAL OF CARROLTON AS MISSISSIPPI'S LONGEST-SERVING TAX ASSESSOR/COLLECTOR AND COMMENDING HIS PUBLIC SERVICE.
WHEREAS, we join the citizens of Carrol County, Mississippi, and all county governmental officials in paying tribute to the outstanding career of Mr. Wilton Neal who has completed 44 years of effective public service as the Carrol County Tax Assessor/Collector; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Neal is Mississippi's longest serving Tax Assessor/Collector having been elected in Carroll County and served from 1976-2011 and from 2016-2023; and
WHEREAS, his professional credentials include being a Certified Member of the Mississippi Chapter of the IAAO and former President of the Mississippi Tax Assessors Association; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Neal has been particularly active in the support of Holmes Community College. He has been a longtime member on the Board of Governors representing Carroll County in the Holmes Community College District, serves on the Nominating Committee for the Holmes Foundation Board and is a member of the Holmes Legacy Club; and
WHEREAS, we commend a record of achievement and legacy of leadership and dedication to all in Central Mississippi by a wonderful example for public servants and who has brought honor to his community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby extend the recognition of the Mississippi Senate to Mr. Wilton Neal of Carrolton as Mississippi's longest-serving Tax Assessor/Collector and commend his public service, and extend our best wishes to Mr. Neal and his family in his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Mr. Wilton Neal and his family, forwarded to the Carroll County Board of Supervisors, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
