Senate Resolution 76

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING LESLIE LYONS, FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" REPRESENTING HEALTH SCIENCES AND THE CENTERS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, Leslie Lyons, a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

     WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

     WHEREAS, Leslie, a Nursing and Health Sciences Instructor, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for seven years; and

     WHEREAS, she received her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Jacksonville University, and a Master of Science degree in Nursing Administration from Western Governors University; and

     WHEREAS, Leslie worked as a Nurse Manager, Risk Manager, Physician Peer Review Manager, and Director of Women's and Children's Services and Behavioral Health Nursing for Singing River Health System, a Director at West Jefferson Medical Center, and a Director of Nursing at Woodland Village Nursing Center prior to her career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend an outstanding teacher, who has dedicated her career to teaching individuals of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Leslie Lyons for being selected as the "Instructor of the Year" representing Health Sciences and The Centers of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Leslie Lyons, forwarded to the President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
