Senate Resolution 69

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2024 SUMRALL HIGH SCHOOL "LADY BOBCATS" CHEER TEAM AND COACH KIM BLOUNT FOR BACK-TO-BACK UNIVERSAL CHEERLEADERS ASSOCIATION (UCA) NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHEREAS, we join the students, faculty and fans of the 2023-2024 Sumrall High School "Lady Bobcats" Cheer Team and Coach Kim Blount for winning back-to-back UCA National Championships; and

WHEREAS, on February 12, 2024, the Cheer Team won the Small Varsity Division II Non Tumbling Championship and the Large Varsity Division II Non Tumbling Game Day 5th Place; and

WHEREAS, Coach Kim Blount stated, "So proud of this team and their accomplishments! What an amazing two years with these ladies"; and

WHEREAS, the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) produced by Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA), a Varsity Spirit brand, stands as the pinnacle of cheerleading competitions for high school cheerleaders across the country. This prestigious event bring together cheerleading teams from various states to showcase their talent and spirit. In the most recent championship, 1,125 teams from 33 states participated, making it a vibrant celebration of athleticism, teamwork and school pride; and

WHEREAS, the 2024 Sumrall High School "Lady Bobcats" Championship Cheer Team Roster: Ella Bailey, Laine Blackstock, Allie Kate Brewer, Kayden Bullock, Claire Childs, Taylor Davis, Austyn Eades, Kendyl Eades, Abby Hunt, Emma Hunt, Emily Kelly Aubrie Ledet, Kate Lott, Addison Lucas, Emily McRaney, Rylee Murphree, Annelise Parrish, Mattie Prince, Josie Rivers, Ella Smith, Peyton Smith, Macey Steed, Emily Kate Thomas, Cayden Thornhill and Ryleigh Touchstone; and Coach Kim Blount; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2024 Sumrall High School "Lady Bobcats" Cheer Team and Coach Kim Blount for back-to-back Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National Championships, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Kim Blount for the team, forwarded to Sumrall Athletic Director Anita Sumrall and Principal Matt Thomas and the Lamar County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
