A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING SWETMAN SECURITY SERVICE UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, Swetman Security Service, of Biloxi, Mississippi, a family-owned and operated business, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year; and
WHEREAS, in 1974, W.S. "Windy" Swetman, Jr., and the former Cynthia Payne, had the idea of providing security services to a handful of small businesses in Biloxi; and
WHEREAS, in 1984, the firm incorporated and began building a reputation for providing client-oriented security solutions to a growing number of small businesses and large corporations, state and local government agencies, banks and credit unions, ports and harbors, and in schools and courthouses across the Gulf Coast; and
WHEREAS, W.S. "Windy" Swetman, III, son of the company founders, has grown the company's footprint to cover a three-state area, with the advent of crowd and special event management at arenas and college stadiums throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, currently, upon its 50th anniversary, Swetman Security has more than 550 full-time team members, a payroll that grows to 1,200 a year with part-time employees; and
WHEREAS, the cornerstones of the Swetman success are a team of professionals dedicated to meeting the client's safety and security needs; and
WHEREAS, with its success and an inherent corporate responsibility, the Swetman family has championed a motto of "doing the most good," supporting a number of regional outreach programs and service organizations that help those in need; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize outstanding Mississippi companies, especially those such as Swetman Security Service, whose hard work and dedication to excellence brings honor to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and commend Swetman Security Service upon the occasion of its 50th anniversary, and extend best wishes for continued success in all its future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Swetman Security Service and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
