House Concurrent Resolution 50

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL ATTACHÉ SHOW CHOIR FOR WINNING ITS 100TH GRAND CHAMPION TITLE.

     WHEREAS, Clinton High School's Attaché Show Choir took home Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Overall Effect and Grand Champion at the 2024 Homewood South Central Classic in Homewood, Alabama; and

     WHEREAS, the Attaché Show Choir's most recent victory represents a significant milestone for the Clinton, Mississippi, show choir, as this is Attaché's 100th Grand Championship, a truly impressive feat; and

     WHEREAS, since its inception by Winona Costello in 1980, Attaché has been named Grand Champion 100 times out of 116 competitions attended, and they also currently hold the longest winning streak in the activity with 27 consecutive first place finishes dating back to 2014, and each of these first place finishes also include caption awards for Best Vocals and Best Choreography; and

     WHEREAS, over the years, these competitive events have taken place in 12 different states in 34 different venues, and the Attaché Show Choir has finished in second place nine times, third place four times, fourth place twice, and twelfth place once; and

     WHEREAS, Attaché has truly dominated the show choir rankings in Mississippi, as they have never finished second to another school from Mississippi, a testament to their year after year hard work, determination and natural talent; and

     WHEREAS, while Attaché is at the top, the other schools rounding out the Top 5 schools with the most Grand Championships are Center Grove, Indiana, and Mt. Zion, Illinois, with 84, Onalaska, Wisconsin, with 79, and Findlay, Ohio, with 74; and  

     WHEREAS, Attaché Show Choir is under the direction of executive directors David and Mary Fehr, with pit directors, Robert Allen and Sam Lovorn, crew director, Deborah Morgan, and  choreographers, Dexter Bishop, Kellis Oldenburg and April James,  and none of the awards would have been possible without their hard work, long hours, dedication and patience; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend inspirational artistic and creative achievements in Mississippi, especially those garnered by the Attaché Show Choir, whose 100th Grand Champion title has brought honor to Clinton High School, the City of Clinton and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Clinton High School Attaché Show Choir for winning its 100th Grand Champion title and extend our most sincere wishes for their continued success in the future.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the members of the Attaché Show Choir and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
