A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING STATES' RIGHTS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES FROM INVASION AND ENCOURAGING GOVERNOR TATE REEVES TO OFFER SUPPORT AND SERVICES TO THE STATE OF TEXAS.
WHEREAS, Section 4 of Article IV of the United States Constitution requires the federal government to protect the states against invasion; and
WHEREAS, since the beginning of the Biden presidential administration, millions of lawbreaking foreigners have invaded the U.S. by entering across the border, including through Texas; and
WHEREAS, the federal government, under the current administration, not only has failed to protect the states against this invasion, it actively has encouraged this lawlessness and has prohibited Texas from being able to defend its own borders; and
WHEREAS, Section 10 of Article I of the U.S. Constitution allows the states to enter into agreements in times of actual invasion:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That the Mississippi Legislature hereby offers the support of the State of Mississippi to the State of Texas in defending its southern border from the lawless invasion of foreigners, as well as from the lawless actions of the federal government refusing to secure the border.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mississippi Legislature hereby encourages Governor Tate Reeves to provide any support he deems necessary to the Governor of Texas, including, but not limited to, the Mississippi National Guard, Mississippi law enforcement agents, equipment and supplies.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mississippi Legislature hereby seeks further conversations with the Governor and Legislature of the State of Texas to formalize an agreement of support to stand in solidarity against future lawlessness by foreign invaders and the federal government.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Governor and Legislature of the State of Texas and made available to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
