A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING BOBBY MORGAN, VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS AT ATMOS ENERGY IN JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, AS A RECIPIENT OF THE PRESTIGIOUS OLE MISS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 2023 "40 UNDER 40" AWARD.

     WHEREAS, the Ole Miss Alumni Association has announced its Class of 2023 "40 Under 40" recipients, which includes Bobby Morgan of Jackson, Mississippi, Vice President of Public Affairs at Atmos Energy; and

     WHEREAS, Kirk Purdom (BA 93), Ole Miss Alumni Association CEO, stated "These outstanding individuals exemplify leadership in their industries and communities, and I am delighted that we can showcase their achievements through this program of recognition";

     WHEREAS, the "40 Under 40" Program celebrates the person, professional and philanthropic achievements of successful University of Mississippi graduates under the age of 40.  Recipients are recognized with a ceremony on March 24, 2023, as part of Young Alumni Weekend.  Nominations for "40 Under 40" were open from September to December, and more than 450 nominations were received for the 2023 Class.  Honorees must be active members of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, have made a significant impact on their industry or field, have civic or professional achievements, have earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and demonstrated a commitment to maintaining a life-long relationship with the university; and

     WHEREAS, Bobby Morgan has impressive public and professional credentials both in the Mississippi and Washington, D.C., areas:

     •  Vice President of Public Affairs, Atmos Energy, July 2019-Present, Jackson, Mississippi Area;

     •  Office of Governor Phil Bryant, four years and nine months, Jackson, Mississippi, Area; Director of Public Affairs and Senior Policy Advisor, April 2019-July 2019, Jackson, Mississippi, Area; Senior Policy Advisor, September 2018-April 2019, Jackson, Mississippi Area; Economic Development Policy Analyst and Senate Liaison, May 2015-August 2018, Jackson, Mississippi, Area; Legislative Liaison, November 2014-May 2015, Jackson, Mississippi, Area;

     •  Mississippi Republican Party, Communications Director, July 2013-November 2014, Jackson, Mississippi, Area;

     •  Leadership Directories, Inc., Content Manager Congressional Team, August 2011-June 2013, Washington, D.C., Metro Area;

     •  J.P. Morgan, Assistant, December 2010-April 2011, Washington, D.C., Metro Area;

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we extend our sincerest congratulations to a Mississippi citizen who has brought honor to his family, his business, his community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Bobby Morgan, Vice-President of Public Affairs at Atmos Energy in Jackson, Mississippi, as a recipient of the prestigious Ole Miss Alumni Association 2023 "40 Under 40" Award, and extend to Bobby and his family our best wishes for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Bobby Morgan and his family, forwarded to the CEO of Atmos Energy and the CEO of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
