AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE SCHOOL PRINCIPALS TO PERMIT THE BOY SCOUTS AND GIRL SCOUTS TO SPEAK WITH STUDENTS ABOUT CIVIL INVOLVEMENT AND THEIR PARTICIPATION; TO PROVIDE A PROCESS FOR APPROVAL OF REQUESTS TO SPEAK WITH STUDENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1  (1)  Representatives of the Boy Scouts of America (Boy Scouts) and the Girl Scouts of the United States of America (Girl Scouts) shall be allowed the opportunity to speak with students at schools in Mississippi about the civic involvement of the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts and to explain how students may participate or join the Boy Scouts or the Girl Scouts.

     (2)  The Boy Scouts and/or Girl Scouts shall submit in writing to the principal of the school their request to speak to the students.  The principal shall provide written approval of the manner and date and time for the Boy Scouts and/or Girl Scouts to speak with the students.

     SECTION 1.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
