House Resolution 197

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. JAMES GRUICH FOR BEING SELECTED AS 2023 INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE HARRISON COUNTY CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Dr. James Gruich, a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi, has been selected as 2023 Instructor of the Year at the Harrison County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gruich, a Computer Networking and Cybersecurity Technology Instructor, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for nine years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gruich completed the FBI Citizen's Academy Community Outreach Program with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation of Jackson, Mississippi; graduated from the Mississippi School of Banking through the University of Mississippi; and received his associate of arts degree in business administration from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; a bachelor of science degree in computer and information science with a minor in business administration from the University of South Alabama; a master of business administration degree in executive leadership with an emphasis in operations management from William Carey University; and a doctor of philosophy degree in educational administration from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, prior to his career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Dr. Gruich worked as the vice president of Operations, Division Head, and vice president of Cybersecurity during his time at The Peoples Bank in Biloxi, Mississippi; the Senior Lead Computer Programmer/Analyst for the Technology Management and Analysis Corporation (Navy Contract); Task Leader/Computer Programmer/Analyst for PRC, Inc., (Navy Contract); and as a Computer Programmer/Analyst for Ingalls Shipbuilding, Inc., (Navy Contract); and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend such an outstanding teacher as Dr. Gruich, who has dedicated his career to teaching the young people of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. James Gruich for being selected as the 2023 Instructor of the Year at the Harrison County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and extend to him our heartiest wishes of success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. James Gruich and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
