House Resolution 133

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE JACKSON PREP PATRIOTS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR.

     WHEREAS, the Jackson Prep Patriots Boys Basketball Team reigned supreme at the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Overall Championship, a truly outstanding achievement; and

     WHEREAS, Jackson Prep's dual-sport athletes Konnor Griffin and William Laird starred for the Patriots, leading to the team claiming the championship for the second consecutive year, beating the Clinton Christian Academy Warriors 57-46; and

     WHEREAS, striving to win with unparalleled motivation and ardent determination, the Patriots' mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they entered onto the court, until the game ended, bringing the championship trophy back to Jackson Prep; and

     WHEREAS, the Patriots have been superbly coached and tremendously inspired by Head Coach Tim Wise, who has broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the Patriots, whose excellence on and off the court brings honor to Jackson Prep and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend the Jackson Prep Patriots Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Tim Wise, upon winning the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Overall Championship for the second consecutive year, and extend best wishes to the team for continued success in all their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Tim Wise and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
