A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KAYLEE HARRISON ON BEING SELECTED AS THE 2022 STATE GAMES OF MISSISSIPPI YOUTH ATHLETE OF THE YEAR.

     WHEREAS, Kaylee Harrison is the 2022 State Games of Mississippi Youth Athlete of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, youth soccer player Kaylee Harrison of Meridian, Mississippi, has played on two travel teams while also competing for her school soccer team, and despite her long hours on the pitch, she has maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking advanced classes; and

     WHEREAS, while putting in the effort to excel at both soccer and academics has not been easy, Kaylee is grateful for the lessons on self-discipline that she has learned, and understands that she will use those lessons long after her soccer days are over; and

     WHEREAS, Kaylee scored six goals in three games during the 2022 State Games and received a gold medal for her hard work and skills, which is a great way to commemorate her last year to compete in the State Games as a high school athlete; and

     WHEREAS, over the past seven years, the State Games have played a huge role in Kaylee's life, and she plans to volunteer for them next year; and

     WHEREAS, Kaylee has also achieved numerous soccer awards outside of the State Games, as she and her team won the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A State Soccer Championship in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021; and  

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Kaylee Harrison, whose hard work and zealous dedication to her team and the State Games have brought honor to the Meridian community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kaylee Harrison on being selected as the 2022 State Games of Mississippi Youth Athlete of the Year, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kaylee Harrison and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
