A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE STELLAR MEDICAL SERVICE OF  ESTEEMED NEW ALBANY PHYSICIAN, DR. SAM CREEKMORE III, WHO HAS DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO HEALING, SAVING AND NURTURING GENERATIONS OF MISSISSIPPIANS.

     WHEREAS, Dr. Sam Creekmore III, has dedicated the last 50 years of his life to healing, saving and nurturing the health of the citizens of New Albany, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Creekmore works and lives by his coveted philosophy of "First do no harm and then take care of patients the way you would want somebody to take care of you. If they are in pain, get them some relief, if they have an illness, make sure they are getting the best treatment."; and

     WHEREAS, he has served his patients with a legacy of warmth, kindness and genuine concern along with a healthy dose of humor and a smile; and

     WHEREAS, New Albany hospital records evidence that Dr. Creekmore has delivered more than 5,000 New Albany babies and cared for thousands upon thousands of hospital patients whose positive experiences have been chronicled publicly in the media to this day; and

     WHEREAS, born in Amory to his loving parents, Mrs. Margaret and Mr. Sam Creekmore, Jr., his father was a tractor dealer, while his mother loved books and instilled in her children a deep commitment to learning and the institution of education; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from Amory High School, Sam wanted to work on their family's farm, but his mother, Margaret, urged him to pursue medicine, and was so passionate about her desire for his future that she enlisted a doctor-farmer to hire him to work on his farm with Margaret reimbursing the doctor's wages; and

     WHEREAS, with his family's support, Sam pursued pre-med at Mississippi State University and graduated in three years; and

     WHEREAS, during his time at Mississippi State, Sam also made other great gains, which included marrying the love of his life, Barbara, whom he had loved since their days at Amory Middle School, and having their first child, Sam; and

     WHEREAS, upon graduating from Mississippi State, Sam pursued his medical degree at the University of Mississippi Medical School, where he realized that he really enjoyed spending time with patients; and

     WHEREAS, after medical school, Dr. Creekmore III interned at Savannah Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, before moving his wife and then two young children, to New Albany, Mississippi, where he has remained; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Creekmore decided to make New Albany his life-long residence due to its "hometown", "Norman Rockwell feel" and instilled that love for New Albany in his sons, Sam and Ben, who both remained in New Albany to establish their careers, and raise their families; and

     WHEREAS, a physician amongst physicians, Dr. Creekmore has always been a leader in his field who has embraced the best practices and technology for his patients by using state-of-the-art medical advancements, developing and updating an approach to physical programs for athletes making them more comprehensive and thorough ensuring healthier, safer athletes; and

     WHEREAS, Sam and his family have been committed members of First United Methodist Church for 49 years, where he and his family have received and given care and support to their church and community; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the magnanimous efforts of physicians like Dr. Sam Creekmore III, who spend their lives improving the health and quality of life of all Mississippians, and leaving a legacy of kindness, warmth and genuine concern that is unmatched:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby honor the legacy of stellar medical services provided by Dr. Sam Creekmore III, express our appreciation for the generations of Mississippians he has saved, healed and nurtured and wish him many more years of success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Sam Creekmore III, his family and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
