House Bill 1572

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CLAIBORNE COUNTY TO ASSIST IN PAYING THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MAKING RECREATIONAL FACILITIES IMPROVEMENTS IN THE COUNTY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Supervisors of Claiborne County, Mississippi, to assist in paying the costs associated with making recreational facilities improvements in the county, as provided in Section 2 of this act, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024...........................................

................................................ $ 1,500,000.00.

SECTION 2. The money appropriated by Section 1 shall be expended by the board of supervisors as follows:

(a) Not more than Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400,000.00) shall be used in paying costs associated with upgrades and improvements to the Fairgrounds baseball field lights, scoreboard and related facilities;

(b) Not more than Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) shall be used in paying costs associated with replacing the basketball court in Pattison with new concrete, goals, fencing, lighting, benches and related facilities and equipment;

(c) Not more than Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) shall be used in paying costs associated with replacing three (3) older playgrounds at Russum, Pattison and the Fairgrounds;

(d) Not more than Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) shall be used in paying costs associated with replacing the pavilion and bathrooms at the Hermanville ball field; and

(e) Not more than Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) shall be used in paying costs associated with upgrades and improvements to the Fairgrounds softball field, including lights, infield surface, fencing, dugouts and press box.

SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
