House Bill 1517

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF COURTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING AN INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF THE ANNUAL COMPENSATION AND FRINGE BENEFITS FOR THE FULL-TIME STAFF ATTORNEYS EMPLOYED BY THE OFFICE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Administrative Office of Courts for the purpose of providing an increase in the amount of the annual compensation and fringe benefits for the full-time staff attorneys employed by the office for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024.... $ 6,991,532.00.

SECTION 2. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated to the Administrative Office of Courts out of any money in any special fund in the State Treasury to the credit of the office, for the purpose of providing an increase in the amount of the annual compensation and fringe benefits for the full-time staff attorneys employed by the office for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024...........................................

................................................ $ 1,468,206.00.

SECTION 3. The money appropriated in Sections 1 and 2 of this act shall be used by the Administrative Office of Courts to increase the amount of the annual compensation and fringe benefits for the full-time staff attorneys employed by the office by five percent (5%) above the amount of the annual compensation and fringe benefits for those employees for fiscal year 2023.

SECTION 4. The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, and the money appropriated by Section 2 of this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper special fund in the State Treasury to the credit of the Administrative Office of Courts, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
