AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING UPGRADES AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS TO THE INFRASTRUCTURE AT THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENTS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the State Department of Health for the purpose of making upgrades and other improvements to the infrastructure at the county health departments, as provided in Section 2 of this act, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024 $ 49,692,200.00.
SECTION 2. The funds appropriated under Section 1 of this act shall be expended by the department for the following infrastructure needs at the county health departments:
(a) New county health department buildings............

(b) District office buildings.......... $ 9,000,000.00.
(c) General building repair and maintenance...........
................................................ $ 8,309,350.00.
(d) Parking lots........................ $ 749,050.00.
(e) Access and accommodations for patients living with disabilities.................................... $ 15,200,000.00.
(f) Patient privacy protections........ $ 8,704,400.00.
(g) Automated external defibrillators..... $ 65,500.00.
(h) Generators........................ $ 1,680,000.00.
(i) Fire safety......................... $ 762,000.00.
(j) Furniture........................... $ 648,800.00.
(k) Medical equipment................... $ 572,900.00.
TOTAL.......................................... $ 49,692,200.00.
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
