Senate Concurrent Resolution 530

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF BRIDGETTE ROCHELLE HORN OF PHILADELPHIA, MISSISSIPPI, AND COMMENDING HER MILITARY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE TO HER NATION AND HER COMMUNITY.

     WHEREAS, we join the citizens of Philadelphia, Carthage and Meridian, Mississippi, in mourning the passing of Bridgette Rochelle Horn on November 19, 2020.  Bridgette was born on May 26, 1983, to Pam Daniels and Bobby K. Horn; and

     WHEREAS, Bridgette graduated Basic Training from Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, on April 26, 2002, where she received the Marksmanship Award.  Some of her military deployments included:  Iraq, Columbia, Israel and Estonia; and

     WHEREAS, some of Bridgette's awards and decorations were:  two Air Force Achievement Medals, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Services Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Expedition Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Medal, Air Force Reserve Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksman Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Mississippi Medal of Efficiency, Mississippi War Medal, Mississippi Emergency Medal, and Mississippi Longevity Medal.  Bridgette was an avid marksman, receiving many marksmanship awards and mentoring others; and

     WHEREAS, Bridgette was promoted on December 7, 2014, as the first female Master Sergeant in the 186th Security Forces Squadron at Keyfield Air National Guard Base, where she served on active duty status for 19 years; and

     WHEREAS, Bridgette was a Police Officer with the Meridian Police Department from March 15, 2017, until her death on November 19, 2020.  Bridgette was promoted to Detective on March 25, 2020; and

     WHEREAS, Bridgette was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Carthage, Mississippi.  She was attending Longino Baptist Church in Philadelphia at the time of her death.  Bridgette is mourned by her mother, Pam Younger, and her stepfather, John Younger; father, Bobby Horn, and stepmother, Susan Horn; and her Godson, Eli Pendleton; along with numerous beloved relatives.  Bridgette was dedicated to God, her jobs and had a heart full of love for children; and

     WHEREAS, Bridgette's legacy is her devotion to a strong and free America, and for this and for a lifetime of selfless service, a grateful state thanks her and her family:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby celebrate the life of Bridgette Rochelle Horn of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and commend her military and law enforcement service to her nation and her community.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Horn family and forwarded to Mayor Jimmie Smith of the City of Meridian and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
