A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. BECKI COPE OF PLEASANT HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN OLIVE BRANCH, MISSISSIPPI, FOR BEING NAMED AN EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATOR FOR 2022 BY CURRICULUM ASSOCIATES.

WHEREAS, Curriculum Associates created the Extraordinary Educators program to celebrate and connect Best in Class teachers from across the nation; and

WHEREAS, the 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators includes an elite group of 35 K-8 educators from across the country who illustrate growth and achievement via formal assessments, demonstrate classroom innovation and engagement practices for students, are evangelists for high standards and student achievement, and exhibit best-in-class use of i-Ready and/or Ready instructional resources designed by Curriculum Associates in their classroom; and

WHEREAS, Becki Cope, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, was named as an inductee of the 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators, as she personifies the ideals that Curriculum Associates set forth with the program; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cope, who has been teaching for 18 years, holds a bachelor of arts degree in elementary and special education from Morehead State University and a fifth year degree in reading and special education from Northern Kentucky University, currently teaches kindergarten at Pleasant Hill Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cope's passion for teaching began in childhood, she has always loved children, was always around teachers, including her mother who was a teacher for 37 years, and knew teaching was her destiny, as she immerses herself in enjoying the challenges of kindergarten students, while finding their growth exciting, and believes in using "data to teach, reteach, reinforce and enrich lessons"; and

WHEREAS, as an inductee into the 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators, Ms. Cope has received local and national recognition, in addition to gaining access to a network of peers from around the country, opportunities for professional development, and a standing invitation to attend the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Summit in Boston, Massachusetts; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence in the accomplishments and remarkable service of educators of Ms. Cope's exceptional caliber, who have tirelessly and selflessly devoted their lives to imparting light and knowledge into the bright scholars of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Becki Cope of Olive Branch, Mississippi, for being named as an inductee of the Curriculum Associates 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators and extend sincerest wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Becki Cope and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
