A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BAY SPRINGS BULLDOGS FOOTBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, proving hard work and diligence are the keys to success, the Bay Springs Bulldogs Football Team captured the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 1A State Championship by beating Simmons 32-12; and
WHEREAS, although the game did not start well for the Bulldogs due to a fourth down punt, Simmons returned it for a touchdown to put it up 6-0 and fortunately for Bay Springs, the momentum for Simmons stopped as soon as it started; and WHEREAS, the momentum-changing play of the second half came after Simmons looked to score on a potential 24-yard touchdown run, but an illegal block in the back led to the score being called back, and one play later, Bay Springs' Jamare Holiday came down with his second interception of the game, and finally, with just over two minutes left in the game, Jones put the game away with a 24-yard touchdown by scoring the two-point conversion, and the Bulldogs took over the game and it led to the final score of 32-12; and
WHEREAS, the player of the game was given to Anthony Ross, who had 20 rushes for 219 yards and two touchdowns; and WHEREAS, they were superbly coached by Head Coach Dan Brady, who refined their skills in execution, and who always believed in his team as he was quoted "When I came here years ago, they couldn't finish the second half and that's all we talked about, that's what we broke it down to. Finish the mission," said Bay Springs Head Coach Dan Brady. "I'm just proud of our kids, man. There's been so many people that didn't think they could do it but all along I told them, keep pecking away,"; and
WHEREAS, Coach Brady was able to keep the team inspired with help from Assistant Coaches, Corey Mackey, Ben Justice, Destin Ellis, Regrick Young, Roger Satcher and Frankie Beamon; and WHEREAS, the members of the Bay Springs Bulldogs Football Team who have worked hard to secure this championship are: Jamare Holiday, Anthony Newell, Cartize Booth, Tremayne Wheaton, Destin Nelson, Jacoby Johnson, Tony Johnson, Tyrick Jones, Charles Carr, Tyrice Holloway, Ja'rail Washington, De'marian Jones, Demetrius Roberts, Jr., Jaylen Gammage, Tyrique Roberts, Jeremiah Gavin, Jamarcus Smith, Dayln Pierce, Anthony Ross, Kevin Keyes, Kerrion Keyes, Caleb Plummer, Malaki Page, James Ross, Jadius McCormick, Cornell Butler, Kavaji Bolton, Kelo Thigpen, Jeremy Bradley, Zyon Ross, Espen Campbell, Landon Jones, Rondarius Henry, Demarion Campbell, Jakeal Evans, King Cole, Trevarius Keys, Julius Holliday, Aubrey Gilmore II, James Wilson, Tavarius Keyes, Kamron Beavers, Javon Cunningham, John Andrews, Jr., Brandon Clayton, Ladarren Gammage, Nathan Gavin, Tyler Hartfield, Omarion Shaw and Damarian Starks; and
WHEREAS, the Bulldogs have developed a winning and cooperative spirit with a high degree of sportsmanship, and their drive and positive attitudes reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
