A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING KORNFELD'S DEPARTMENT STORE UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, Kornfeld's Department Store, a historic community cornerstone in Greenwood, Mississippi, is celebrating its 100th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the Kornfeld family business, which is owned and operated by acclaimed haberdasher extraordinaire, Mr. Murray B. "Bubba" Kornfeld, is known for being an "extreme" big and tall clothing store, and it is also known for its extensive motorcycle clothing and accessories department; and
WHEREAS, as the largest big and tall clothing store in the State of Mississippi, with its extensive merchandise being held in three buildings, Kornfeld's is also a large promoter of cotton goods, and the largest supplier of motorcycle goods between Memphis, Tennessee, and Jackson, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, as one of the most unique stores in the Mississippi Delta, where one can purchase a pair of underwear and a motorcycle helmet at the same location, Kornfeld's offers camouflage in sizes up to 8X, t-shirts in sizes up to 12X, and motorcycle jackets in sizes up to 12X, and this iconic department store also offers size 86 pair of blue jeans, size 110 pair of underwear, and for the ladies, a size 56K bra; and
WHEREAS, a true southern gem in downtown Greenwood, Mississippi, Kornfeld's supplies big and tall clothing to those who find it difficult to locate comfortable, great-fitting clothing; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding community landmarks across the State of Mississippi, especially those such as Kornfeld's Department Store:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kornfeld's Department Store upon the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Murray B. "Bubba" Kornfeld, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
