A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING FIREFIGHTER LINC TUCKER
FOR HIS MERITORIOUS SERVICE AND SACRIFICE DURING HURRICANE IDA.
WHEREAS, Firefighter Linc Tucker of the Jackson Fire Department risked his life during Hurricane Ida and spent four days in a storm zone with a fellow colleague to ensure he was available to the immediate and emergent needs of Mississippians; and
WHEREAS, accompanied by only one other firefighter, Mr. Tucker left the city of Jackson on Saturday in a Jackson Fire Department pickup truck with a rescue boat; and
WHEREAS, when asked of his sacrifice, this man of valor stated, "We've dedicated our lives to this, and you know we're here for the call any time anybody needs it."; and
WHEREAS, both men are members of a distinguished state urban search and rescue task force that is dedicated to the safety of others during emergencies; and
WHEREAS, by its own description on its website, "the Mississippi Urban Search and Rescue Teams are the most highly trained and versatile personnel recovery specialists in the nation. They stand ready to execute the most perilous, demanding, and extreme rescue missions anytime, anywhere across the nation."; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Tucker praises his family's support as the foundation for his ability to remain focused during difficult times, "They're strong, you know? They're actually the pillars of our family. Our home's support is the pillar of our families."; and
WHEREAS, it is most appropriate to honor the bravery and sacrifice of first responders, such as Firefighter Linc Tucker, who leave the safety of their homes to protect the citizens of our state in times of emergency:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Firefighter Linc Tucker for his meritorious service and sacrifice during Hurricane Ida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Firefighter Linc Tucker and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
