AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO EDNA BARNETT OF JONES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Ms. Edna Barnett of Jones County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of her conviction for the crime of shoplifting on August 19, 1993, in Jones County, Mississippi, for which she was sentenced to serve three (3) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with charges to run concurrent with her convictions for cocaine-possession.  She was released and discharged on March 25, 1996, but charged on July 17, 2002, for cocaine-possession and on September 19, 2006, in Jones County, Mississippi, for the crime of shoplifting which she was sentenced to four (4) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, following one (1) year on probation.  She was released to probation on November 16, 2008.  On September 29, 2011, she was convicted for shoplifting in Jones County, Mississippi, for which she was sentenced to serve one (1) year, with three (3) years probation.  Her probation was extended by two (2) years for absconding supervision.  

     She completed all terms and conditions of all sentences and was discharged on April 15, 2019.  The Legislature is informed that she has since conducted herself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
