AN ACT TO REPEAL SECTION 97-7-19, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTIES FOR CONSPIRING WITH AN OFFICER TO CEASE TO DO BUSINESS; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-7-33, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTIES FOR MAKING FALSE STATEMENT TO OFFICIALS; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-7-35, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE CRIME AND PENALTIES FOR MAKING FALSE SWORN STATEMENTS TO FEDERAL OFFICIALS; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-7-49, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTIES FOR ALTERING BILLS OR RESOLUTIONS BEFORE PASSAGE TO THE LEGISLATURE; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-7-51, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTIES FOR DESTRUCTION OF ENROLLED BILLS; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-9-19, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTIES FOR CHAMPERTY AND MAINTENANCE; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-9-17, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES FOR AN AFFIDAVIT FOR CHAMPERTY; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-9-11, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES FOR CHAMPERTY AND MAINTENANCE; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-9-15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES FOR CHAMPERTY AND MAINTENANCE AFFIDAVIT OF PARTY; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-9-13, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE PENALTY FOR CHAMPERTY AND MAINTENANCE; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-9-21, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES WITNESS IMMUNITY FOR CHAMPERTY AND MAINTENANCE; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-9-23, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES FOR CHAMPERTY AND MAINTENANCE LEGISLATIVE INTENT; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-17-63, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES FOR INTENT TO DEFRAUD A COTENANT; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-25-31, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTIES OF STEALING ANIMALS WOUNDED OR KILLED BY RAILROADS; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-17-79, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH FOR THE CRIME OF CUTTING BOXES IN PINE TREES; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-17-83, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTY FOR WILLFUL INJURY TO A SHADE TREE; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-19-45, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE FRAUDULENT PRESENTATION OF A CHILD; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-19-53, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTY FOR SUBSTITUTING A CHILD UNDER SIX YEARS OLD; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-21-15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME OF COUNTERFEIT FOREIGN CURRENCY; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-21-41, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTY FOR MAKING A COUNTERFEIT RAILROAD PASSENGER TICKET; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-21-43, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME OF SELLING A FORGED RAILROAD PASSENGER TICKET; TO REPEAL SECTION 97-25-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PROVIDES THE CRIME AND PENALTIES FOR EMBEZZLEMENT BY A RAILROAD COMPANY OF PASSENGER TICKETS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 97-7-19, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalties for conspiring with an officer to cease to do business, is repealed.

     SECTION 2.  Section 97-7-33, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalties for making false statement to officials, is repealed.

     SECTION 3.  Section 97-7-35, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides for the crime and penalties for making false sworn statements to federal officials, is repealed.

     SECTION 4.  Section 97-7-49, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalties for altering bills or resolutions before passage to the Legislature, is repealed.

     SECTION 5.  Section 97-7-51, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalties for destruction of enrolled bills, is repealed.

     SECTION 6.  Section 97-9-19, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalties for champerty and maintenance, is repealed.

     SECTION 7.  Section 97-9-17, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides for an affidavit for champerty, is repealed.

     SECTION 8.  Section 97-9-11, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides for champerty and maintenance, is repealed.

     SECTION 9.  Section 97-9-15, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides for champerty and maintenance affidavit of party, is repealed.

     SECTION 10.  Section 97-9-13, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the penalty for champerty and maintenance, is repealed.

     SECTION 11.  Section 97-9-21, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides witness immunity for champerty and maintenance, is repealed.

     SECTION 12.  Section 97-9-23, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides for champerty and maintenance legislative intent, is repealed.

     SECTION 13.  Section 97-17-63, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides for intent to defraud a cotenant, is repealed.

     SECTION 14.  Section 97-25-31, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalties of stealing animals wounded or killed by railroads, is repealed.

     SECTION 15.  Section 97-17-79, Mississippi Code of 1972, which for the crime of cutting boxes in pine trees, is repealed.

     SECTION 16.  Section 97-17-83, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalty for willful injury to a shade tree, is repealed.

     SECTION 17.  Section 97-19-45, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides for the fraudulent presentation of a child, is repealed.

     SECTION 18.  Section 97-19-53, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalty for substituting a child under six years old, is repealed.

     SECTION 19.  Section 97-21-15, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime of counterfeit foreign currency, is repealed.

     SECTION 20.  Section 97-21-41, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalty for making a counterfeit railroad passenger ticket, is repealed.

     SECTION 21.  Section 97-21-43, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime of selling a forged railroad passenger ticket, is repealed.

     SECTION 22.  Section 97-25-9, Mississippi Code of 1972, which provides the crime and penalties for embezzlement by a railroad company of passenger tickets, is repealed.

     SECTION 23.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
