AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CITY OF PORT GIBSON FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CITY WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2023.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the City of Port Gibson for the purpose of providing funding to defray the expenses of making those improvements to the city water and sewer system described in Section 2 of this act for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2023..........................$ 16,250,000.00.
SECTION 2. The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be expended to defray the expenses of the following water and sewer system improvements:
(a) $350,000.00 for sewage treatment plant work at the city's lagoon, including stabilizing the levee holding the contents, installing new aerators, and removing duckweed.
(b) $5,300,000.00 for construction of a new water treatment plant utilizing modern technology to replace the current plant.
(c) $2,500,000.00 for the drilling and construction of new, deeper city water well.
(d) $8,000,000.00 for the replacement of old water lines and sewer lines under city streets.
(e) $100,000.00 for physical repairs and security upgrades at the City of Port Gibson Water Department.
TOTAL .......................................$ 16,250,000.00.
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue the warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
