Senate Resolution 35

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KRISTI MATTHEWS FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" AT THE BRYANT CENTER OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, Kristi Matthews, a resident of Pascagoula, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the Bryant Center of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

     WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Matthews, a Nursing Instructor, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past nine years; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Matthews received her Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Southern Mississippi and her Master of Science in Nursing Education from William Carey University; and

     WHEREAS, Kristi worked at Singing River Health System prior to her career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we join Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognizing and commending such an outstanding teacher who has dedicated her career to teaching the people of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kristi Matthews for being selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the Bryant Center of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Mrs. Kristi Matthews, forwarded to the Board of Trustees of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
