A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LEAKE ACADEMY "REBELS" FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH BRIAN PICKENS FOR WINNING THE MAIS CLASS 5A STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND FOR THEIR UNDEFEATED 2020 SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Leake Academy "Rebels" Football Team led by Head Coach Brian Pickens won the MAIS Class 5A State Football Championship on November 19, 2020, by beating Adams County Christian School at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, this Championship victory was the culmination of an exciting 12-0 undefeated season for Leake Academy located in Madden, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, this game followed victories against Lamar Academy and Hartfield Academy in the MAIS 5A Playoff Tournament and the home conference season game against rival school Simpson Academy; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Leake Academy "Rebels" Football Team and Head Coach Brian Pickens for winning the MAIS Class 5A State Football Championship and for their undefeated 2020 season, and extend to the players, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Brian Pickens for the team, forwarded to the Leake Academy Board of Trustees, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
