A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE OUTSTANDING AND COMPASSIONATE WORKS OF THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION OF MISSISSIPPI IN GRANTING THE WISHES OF TERMINALLY ILL MISSISSIPPI CHILDREN.

     WHEREAS, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi's mission is in line with the national organization's mission of granting wishes to children with life threatening illnesses to provide hope and joy to their lives; and

     WHEREAS, this phenomenal organization grants the wishes and provides hope to terminally ill children from ages 2-1/2 years old to 18 years old; and

     WHEREAS, since its inception, it has granted over 2,350 wishes to Mississippi children; and

     WHEREAS, the Mississippi chapter became the 36th chapter in 1984 when it was chartered in memory of a little girl with a terminal illness from Gulfport; and

     WHEREAS, after all of these years, this phenomenal organization still serves the needs and requests of 170 terminally ill Mississippi children each year; and

     WHEREAS, it is the hope of the Mississippi House of Representatives that Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi is funded in a manner to fund 100% of the wishes of children they serve; and

     WHEREAS, we acknowledge the efforts and donations of Representatives Otis Anthony, Manly Barton, Chris Bell, Scott Bounds, Bo Brown, Billy Calvert, Alyce Clarke, Sam Creekmore IV, Ronnie Crudup, Becky Currie, Jerry Darnell, Oscar Denton, Clay Deweese, Michael Ted Evans, Kevin Felsher, Jill Ford, Stephanie Foster, Hester Jackson McCray, Robert Johnson, Steve Massengill, Missy McGee, Dana McLean, Gene Newman, Brent Powell, John Read, Robin Robinson, Tracey Rosebud, De'Keither Stamps, Zakiya Summers, Price Wallace, Lynn Wright, Lee Yancey, Shanda Yates and Charles Young; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi that strive to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable Mississippi children:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi for their outstanding and compassionate works in granting the wishes of terminally ill Mississippi children.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
