House Resolution 33

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. CEASER L. MERRIWEATHER AND EXPRESSING DEEP SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, it is written in Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven," and as such, the grand architect of the universe, the immaculate author and finisher of our soul's destiny, has summoned the mortal presence of dearly beloved, Mr. Ceaser L. Merriweather, to eternal  rest, as he has made life's final transition from earthly travailing to heavenly reward, rendering great sorrow and loss to his family, colleagues and friends; and

     WHEREAS, born on November 13, 1946, Mr. Ceaser L. Merriweather was raised in the Lutheran Church in Mobile, Alabama, and brought joy and light to everyone who knew him; and

     WHEREAS, he was a proud graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School and Dillard University, and worked briefly before in Phoenix, Arizona, before being drafted into the military, where he bravely served in the United States Air Force and was a proud Vietnam veteran; and

     WHEREAS, as destiny would have it, while stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California, he met and fell in love with Brenda Alexander, also a native of Mobile, Alabama; and

     WHEREAS, their love was an unwritten romance that is cherished by his beloved wife of 48 years with whom he traveled, attended concerts, sporting events, musicals, plays and created a lifetime of glorious memories; and

     WHEREAS, after his honorable discharge, he had a successful career with Kaiser Permanente for 36 years until he retired in 2009; and

     WHEREAS, he is fondly remembered as a generous, jovial and loving father, with an infectious laugh, who was always seen wearing the fraternity letters of his dear Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; and

     WHEREAS, an avid dog lover, he frequently supported and donated monies to the ASPCA to ensure that animals that were mistreated or abandoned were cared for and supported; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Merriweather will forever be loved, cherished and missed by all who knew him, and since it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:8, that to be "absent from the body is to be present with the Lord," his beloved wife; two children, Christopher and Michelle; six siblings and a host of family and friends can find peace and comfort during this difficult time; and

     WHEREAS, it is most appropriate to acknowledge individuals such as Mr. Merriweather, who spend their lives devoted to their families and communities:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Ceaser L. Merriweather, and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Ceaser L. Merriweather and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
