A RESOLUTION TO CREATE A TEMPORARY RULE OF THE HOUSE TO PROVIDE WHEN A MEMBER WILL BE CONSIDERED TO BE PRESENT DURING A SESSION OF THE HOUSE OR IN A COMMITTEE MEETING FOR DETERMINING THE PRESENCE OF A QUORUM WHILE THE HOUSE AND ITS COMMITTEES ARE CONDUCTING BUSINESS REMOTELY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That the Rules of the House are amended by adding a temporary rule to read as follows:
"During such time that the House of Representatives and the committees of the House are conducting business remotely by electronic or other technological means in order to protect the health and safety of the House members and other persons during the COVID-19 pandemic, a member of the House shall be considered to be present during a session of the House and a member of a committee shall be considered to be present in the committee meeting for all purposes under the rules of the House including, but not limited to, determining the presence of a quorum for transacting business, as long as the member is in compliance with applicable requirements for participating remotely in the session of the House or the committee meeting. This rule shall stand repealed on March 1, 2021."
