A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING BISHOP JOSEPH ROSCOE CAMPBELL, JR., FOR HIS 34 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND DEDICATION TO HIS CHURCH AND HIS COMMUNITY.

     WHEREAS, Bishop Joseph Roscoe Campbell, Jr., began his ministerial service to the Ecclesiastical order of the living gospel 34 years ago under the biblical principles and precepts of the Church of Christ (Holiness) USA and has exceptionally served his community as bishop for the entirety of those 34 years; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from Alcorn State University in 1968 with his bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration, Bishop Campbell furthered his education at Wesley Biblical Seminary, and after accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in January 1972, he was ordained as a deacon in July of the same year; and

     WHEREAS, heeding God's calling to share his passion for the unadulterated Word of God, in July 1987, Bishop Campbell was ordained as a minister and then later elected and consecrated as a Bishop in the Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in August 1998 and assigned to the South Central Diocese as Presiding Prelate; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Campbell was elected as Second Vice President of the Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in July 2004, and served in that position until his election as First Vice President in 2012, and he also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Wesley Biblical Seminary and was granted an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Wesley Biblical Seminary in 2019; and

     WHEREAS, like David's, Bishop Campbell's ministry seeks the very heart of God, as his apostle's duties and affiliations have included service in his church as deacon, trustee, church clerk, Sunday School superintendent, district treasurer, assistant district chairman, district chairman, district president of the Deacon's Relief Board, diocese financial secretary, diocese president of the Deacon's Relief Board, diocese chair of the budget committee, national vice president of the Deacon's Relief Board, vice chairman of the Board of Claimants, treasurer for the National Church of Christ (Holiness) USA and vice president of the Mississippi Religious Leaders Conference; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Campbell has also served as pastor of Rose Hill Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Pinola and Galilee Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Jayess, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees for Wesley College in Florence, Mississippi, for several years, and he worked for Bellsouth/AT&T for 22 years as an assistant manager for sales and collections in the company business office; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his dedication to his church and community, Bishop Campbell is extremely dedicated to his wife of 51 years, Linda Joyce; his children, Joseph Roscoe III (Tanya), and Lynette (Jeffrey); his grandchildren, China, Cameron (Breanna), Justin, Tia, Devin and Dylon; and his great-grandchildren, Josiah and Layla; and

     WHEREAS, with several decades of spiritual excellence due his honor, Bishop Campbell has provided a level of religious leadership to his church and community in a variety of capacities that serve as an example to the entire citizenry of the State of Mississippi, of what is best in the human spirit when rooted and grounded in insurmountable belief and faith in God; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize such outstanding godly leaders as Bishop Joseph Roscoe Campbell, Jr., who has dedicated his long and distinguished career to bringing many souls to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and commend Bishop Joseph Roscoe Campbell, Jr., for his 34 years of outstanding service and dedication to his church and his community and extend heartiest wishes for God's continuous blessings and success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Bishop Joseph Roscoe Campbell, Jr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
