AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF A CRIMINAL PROCEEDING TO PROVIDE A WRITTEN SCHEDULING ORDER TO ALL PARTIES NO MORE THAN 30 DAYS FROM A DEFENDANT'S ARRAIGNMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The presiding judge of a criminal proceeding

shall provide a scheduling order for the proceedings to all parties no more than thirty (30) days from the date of arraignment of the defendant.  The scheduling order shall be written and made a part of the official record of the proceedings.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2021.
